What Does Union County do anyway?

That's a common question in Westfield, and the Westfield Democratic Committee aims to provide some answers to that question.

We are proud to present our second guest speaker: the Honorable Bruce H. Bergen, Union County Freeholder
He will provide an overview of the budget for the County and information about how the County's allocations impact Westfield.

Some important highlights of Freeholder Bergen's career:

BruceBergen1200x628.jpgBruce Bergen, first elected to the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders in 2012, served as its Chairman twice (2016 and 2017). Serving in this leadership role hasn't occurred in decades. During his chairmanship, he oversaw wide-ranging improvements in transportation and economic development, opening of the new and refurbished Warinaco Park Sports Center, creation of education and arts opportunities for youth and services for veterans. His initiatives included work with the private sector to create thousands of job opportunities through Workforce Innovations.

This lifelong resident of Union County was raised in Cranford and lives in Springfield. He has been an attorney for over 37 years, and served as Springfield Town Attorney for 17 years. He is a partner in the Cranford law firm Krevsky, Silber & Bergen. Twice he served as a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court, District XII Ethics Committee. He serves as a Trustee of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Institute of Local Government Attorneys. In 2005, Bergen was designated a Diplomate in New Jersey Local Government Law.
